Warriors player who could step up: Jonathan Kuminga

At the beginning of the season, one thing I didn’t expect to see was Jonathan Kuminga getting big-time minutes for Kerr’s Warriors.

However, the No. 7 overall pick, which was among the rawest prospects coming out of the G-League’s Ignite, has been huge lately. He’s going to play a large part in the Warriors’ game plan moving forward as well.

Kuminga isn’t a great on-ball defender, but he is a superior athlete.

He’s played 29 minutes and scored 10 points on 5-for-10 shooting through the first two games. Kuminga averaged 9.3 points per game in just under 17 minutes of action during the regular season.

The 6-foot-7 rookie also shot over 50% this season. He’s efficient and athletic. It would be shocking to see him not get a major uptick in minutes with Payton II sidelined.
