Get Klay Thompson going
If the Golden State Warriors want to make a statement in Game 3 and send the Grizzlies back to the drawing board, they’ll have to find a way to unlock the Splash Brothers. Specifically, it is time for Klay Thompson to get going.
The road to recovery has been a bumpy one for Klay. He’s had some shining moments, including a 32-point night in round one against Denver.
But it hasn’t been too sweet for Thompson in round two.
Thus far, Klay is shooting 5-of-22 from deep for an average of 13.5 points per game. He bricked the potential game-sealing free throws in Game 1 and traveled on the final possession of Game 2.
Anyone watching can see Thompson is suffering from too much enthusiasm. He’s forcing shots, rushing into decisions and overall playing out of sorts.
Getting back in front of the Warriors’ frenzied home crowd could do the trick. A few days of rest to refocus should help the veteran shooter get back into the right mindset, as well.
