Golden State Warriors potential free-agent signee: Serge Ibaka
Serge Ibaka was among the best rim protectors in the league for quite some time. Standing 6-foot-10, the 12-year veteran was an NBA Champion with the Raptors when they defeated the Warriors in 2019.
Ibaka was No. 1 in blocks for four straight seasons from 2010-2014, so he’s been around for a while. Ibaka was also on the All-Defensive team three straight times. He’s on the Bucks now and should look to remain on a contender.
Ibaka has played under 25 minutes in the playoffs for Milwaukee, so with Brook Lopez back, his use has gone way down.
There’s a decent chance he looks for a new home to end his career, and while he doesn’t post the same lob threat that our last free agent may, his shooting makes him a viable option offensively. Ibaka shot 39% from three this season.
Ibaka averaged double digits for nine straight seasons. He’s older, but he’s still that savvy veteran you want in the rotation.
