Golden State Warriors’ player who has disappointed: Damion Lee

Damion Lee is going to continue to get some run with guard Gary Payton II out for the foreseeable future. However, Lee might lose minutes to others on the depth chart if he doesn’t improve his play in the near future.

Lee played about 8 minutes and scored 6 points, going 2-for-4 from the field in the Dubs’ first-round series. With Payton II’s expanded role along with Kerr’s shortening of the rotation, Lee wasn’t quite as necessary.

Also, Payton II is more of a defensive specialist while Lee is a score-first guard. The Warriors have fewer high-level defenders, another reason Payton II got more run. Well, as he went down, Lee’s opportunity to shine became more obvious.

This series, Lee is averaging 8.7 minutes per game and has shot just 3 times in those two quarters of on-court time. Lee is 1-for-3 with2 points in the 3 games, having played 14 scoreless minutes in a blowout Game 3 victory.

Lee needs to have a greater impact, and until then, he’ll have relatively disappointing numbers.
