Warriors player that has helped stock: Andrew Wiggins

The Golden State Warriors should be extremely encouraged by what Andrew Wiggins has done this postseason.

Coming over in the blockbuster deal for D’Angelo Russell prior to the 2020 NBA trade deadline, Wiggins was thought to be an overpaid, score-first forward with a limited ceiling.

However, the former No. 1 has bought into the Warriors’ world-class system and is proving he belongs. Wiggins has transcended his game and is continuing his high-level play in the playoffs. Wiggins shot a career-high 39% from deep this season.

During the Dubs’ nine playoff games, Wiggins has averaged 15.2 points per game, down around 2 points per game from his season average.

The efficiency is what matters for the first-time All-Star. He’s shooting 51% from the field. He’s also drilling 37.5% of his attempts from deep. On top of that, he’s stepped up as a rebounder, pulling down 7.1 boards per game.

It’s been a terrific few weeks for Wiggins, and while many would still consider him overpaid, he’s certainly helping his stock and importance to this roster.
