Golden State Warriors can revitalize Cam Reddish
The start of Cam Reddish’s NBA career could not have gone much worse. The 10th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft came with loads of potential — but has proven to be a mixed bag that has yet to reach its pinnacle.
Reddish played two seasons in Atlanta, averaging 10.7 points on 37.8% shooting as an erratic offensive player with inconsistent effort on defense. This season, he was traded to New York, where he spent the majority of his available time on the bench before a shoulder injury ruled him out for the year.
If the Warriors have learned anything, it’s that situation is everything in the NBA. There was a time when Andrew Wiggins was seen as one of the worst draft busts of all time, now, he’s an All-Star caliber player.
Golden State should not expect a similar leap from Reddish who has proven far less than Wiggins up to this point. Yet, if any team can spark a change in his game, it’s the Warriors.
At his core, Reddish is a heat-check scorer who has the physical gifts to defend multiple positions. Taking a chance on the 22-year-old prospect could turn out to be worthwhile. Though, an argument can be made the Warriors would be better off using their first round pick to find an equally promising player.
