Can the Golden State Warriors contain Luka Dončić?
Warriors experience is crucial
It reminds me of those Houston Rockets teams with James Harden, having a ball-dominant offensive weapon surrounded by shooters. Dončić controls the game and plays at the pace he wants.
At times it may even look slow or awkward, but he has his spots and good luck stopping him from getting there.
It even reminds me of those later Cavalier teams where LeBron was doing a majority of the scoring. Good news, the Warriors have experience with both the Rockets and Cavs and I think those series turned out well for the Dubs.
The late great Kobe Bryant talked about how difficult it would be to run an offense like this and win a championship as well. It will be interested to see if Luka becomes fatigued the later we go in the playoffs.
Wiggins vs. Dončić
Andrew Wiggins got a good sample size of this matchup during the regular season. The most important thing is making everything tough.
Now being deeper in the playoffs, I suspect the officials to allow a little more contact which could help Draymond and Looney. Another thing the Warriors must do is make Luka work on the other end.
Having Luka constantly chasing one of the now three splash brothers can cause issues with his offensive game. No player can have the ball every possession while also defending at a high level on the other end. I hope to see a lot of action run Luka’s way and see how he responds.
