Teams that should target Warriors’ Kevon Looney: Washington Wizards

The Wizards could benefit from a player like Looney. For starters, they’re much like the Warriors in terms of their high-level scorers.

Bradley Beal is about as good as it gets when it comes to putting the ball in the basket. With Looney more of a premier role player, he could feed off Beal, and his screen could help space the court for the star guard.

The Wizards ranked 23rd in rebounds per game and dropped to 28th in offensive boards, so they could use a player that relentlessly crashes the glass. Looney averaged 2.5 offensive boards per game in just 21.1 minutes of action.

With talent at other positions with Kristaps Porzingis, Rui Hachimura, Kyle Kuzma, and Corey Kispert all on the roster, the Wizards’ real need is a paint presence, and Looney would provide them with just that.

Signing the 6-foot-9 center won’t make them a Finals-contending team, but Looney may help enough to help them get out of the first round for the first time since 2017.
