Teams that should target Warriors’ Kevon Looney: The Dallas Mavericks

Another team that should at least have interest in Looney is the Dubs’ current opponent. If you notice one thing wrong with Dallas, it’s that they don’t have a big man that is also competent on the glass.

Dwight Powell isn’t the answer, and while they do have size with 7-foot-4 center Boban Marjanović, they cannot play the big man many minutes as he just can’t keep up on the defensive side of the court.

He’ll get switched onto Curry and abused, one reason Looney was given one of the lone contracts valued at more than the veteran’s minimum. He’ll likely get a bigger deal from someone else, and Dallas certainly has the need.

While their pace did them no favors, they ranked 24th in both offensive and total rebounding during the regular season. They also rank 15th of 16 teams in total rebounding during the playoffs.

Looney’s presence on the boards and helping free up Doncic would be huge for the Mavs on both ends of the court.
