Warriors’ Andre Iguodala could return for 2022 NBA Finals, if Dubs make it
It’s been a relatively simple ride for the Warriors to this point.
Unlike the 2019 NBA Western Conference Semifinals which went 6 games and had all six finish within a single-digit margin, the Warriors have either been blown out or have blown out teams so far this postseason.
The Golden State Warriors may be getting a key veteran presence back in time for the postseason’s most important series.
There haven’t been many late-game situations that test the Warriors’ resolve. However, that may not continue as they’ll have to take on one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference after finishing off the Mavericks.
Golden State is currently up 3-0 on Dallas and is guaranteed at least two more home games if the series somehow manages to go a full 7 games. Assuming they do close the series out, the Warriors may get a key reserve back in time for the NBA Finals.
That key reserve is Andre Iguodala who played a pivotal role during the Warriors 3 NBA Champions in the 2010s. He was even the 2015 NBA Finals MVP.
His experience, leadership, and defensive instincts could be key, especially if the Warriors have to take on Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Iguodala has continued to have issues with a disc injury in his neck.
He’s missed multiple games this season for a myriad of reasons. After all, Iguodala is now 38 years old, so it’s not too shocking that he’s been banged up this season. However, his return could be imminent.
"“During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported Andre Iguodala is eyeing a possible return to the court for the NBA Finals against either the Miami Heat or Boston Celtics,” Bleacher Report’s Erin Walsh wrote."
Iguodala would come off the bench and help the Warriors as Otto Porter Jr. could miss time. Porter Jr. Porter Jr.’s foot soreness could hold him out of Game 4 and potentially even be more serious than just a one-game absence.
Iggy averaged 4.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game in under 20 minutes of action. He was efficient and understands how to play flawlessly with the Big 3. Getting around 15-20 minutes from Iguodala would be huge for Golden State.
