Trading for Andrew Wiggins
Remember when D’Angelo Russell was on the Golden State Warriors?
I do.
And I think we can all agree it was a smart decision to abruptly end the D-Lo era.
This isn’t to say Russell is a bad player, he’s not, and he likely would have filled a very similar role to Jordan Poole.
But, the Warriors would not be where they are if it was not for the emergence of Andrew Wiggins.
Wiggins has fulfilled every duty asked of him. He’s the Warriors’ lead perimeter defender, taking on the task of checking opposing stars nightly without any complaints. More importantly, he’s bringing the heat every night.
Previously, effort was an issue for Wiggins. This inconsistency has vanished in Golden State. He’s one of their most consistent producers and his effort is never lacking.
Just as impressive, Wiggins is killing it on offense. He’s attacking mismatches, finding gaps in the defense and providing the timely buckets that Golden State relies on when Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson aren’t going.
It’s hard to argue against the acquisition of Wiggins being the most influential decision the Dubs have made in recent years.
