While the regular season was wobbly for the Golden State Warriors at times, they picked it up in the playoffs and coasted to their fourth NBA Championship in eight seasons. Coast may not be the right word.

But, they did manage to down the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics all without playing a single Game 7 which is mightily impressive, especially considering they didn’t have home-court advantage against Memphis.

The Golden State Warriors are at risk of losing Kevon Looney this offseason, and they have to be ready in case he does head elsewhere in free agency.

The play of two-time MVP and Finals MVP Stephen Curry is what consistently propelled the Warriors. However, the contributions of players like Gary Payton II and starting center Kevon Looney should also be highlighted often.

Looney had a massive 22-rebound performance in Game 6 against Memphis and was consistently a factor on both ends of the court. He can rebound well offensively and also switch onto guard defensively.

The Kings and the Hornets are both interested in the Warriors’ big man, with Sacramento likely having a better claim as they’re also taking assistant Mike Brown to be their new head coach. That said, if Looney does leave, here are three backup options for the Warriors.
