Potential Golden State Warriors free agent signee: Hassan Whiteside
There’s no good reason Whiteside should return to the Jazz, and with Utah clearly not in a great place with their future on the brink of a full-on collapse if the situation between Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell worsens, returning to Salt Lake City doesn’t make much sense.
Whiteside, who has one of the best success stories in the NBA, is a capable big man and could fill in nicely behind James Wiseman. Whiteside would quell any side issues. He stands 7 feet tall and has a 7-foot-7 wingspan.
The veteran center averaged 8.2 points per game this season and shot over 65% from the field. He hauled down 7.6 rebounds, 2.6 of which were on the offensive glass as well. He did that all in 17.9 minutes per game.
Whiteside may not be a heavy-minute stud, but neither was Looney. He committed on the offensive glass and could defend. While Wiseman may not be as good when switched onto guards, he could easily make a difference on the glass.
If he’s in the budget, Whiteside would make a great fit in the Bay Area.
