If you have been wondering what type of contract the rising star (and newly crowned NBA champion) Jordan Poole will have the leverage to demand from the Golden State Warriors, here it is:

$100 million dollars across four years.

At least, that’s where discussions need to start according to league sources that have spoken to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

"“A league source said the Warriors’ offer likely needs to start at around four years, $100 million”Via SF Chronicle"

This places Poole at around $25 million a year. At 23 years of age, this locks Poole into a Warriors’ uniform through the start of his prime years.

Is it worth it?

Jordan Poole is expecting a payday this summer and the Golden State Warriors will have to start the discussions at around $100 million dollars.

The Dubs are already straddled for cash. Not paying Poole is not going to free up any significant space. So, on this premise, it makes sense simple to retain their young talent.

On the contrary, it is fair to question the long-term picture here. What about Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, who are all eligible for contract extensions of their own?

What happens if James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody all become deserving of massive paydays? How much money can the Warriors afford to spend?

Golden State already has the highest payroll of any team in the league by close to a $20 million dollar margin. You can’t say it hasn’t paid off though, with another championship banner being raised.

Focusing back on Poole — is he worth this much money?

He’s a streaky shot-creator whose burst of offense helped plunge the Warriors over the top during the 2022 NBA Playoffs. He also struggled at times with decision making, turnovers and has always lacked productivity on the defensive end.

Handing Poole a huge contract is a bit of a gamble. But, it’s one the Warriors have every reason to take.

Next. Short and long term questions for Dubs. dark
