Golden State Warriors free agent target: Nicolas Batum

Nicolas Batum isn’t taking his player option, and he’s going to have many suitors. Teams from Chicago to Boston and many in between want a chance to sign the veteran forward, and Golden State should be in the mix as well.

Batum has spent the last few seasons with the Clippers, and it’s been disappointing for the Frenchman to say the least. Batum did have a strong showing in the 2020-21 postseason, averaging 8.6 points per game and shooting 49% from the field.

A solid defender mixed with a capable three-point shooter (career 36% from deep), Batum has everyone a team wants in a veteran. He’s also a good playmaker, which adds even more reason to sign the 33-year-old.

This past season, one in which Kawhi Leonard didn’t see the court and Paul George was often injured, hurting the Clippers’ playoff chances, Batum averaged 8.3 points per game and shot 46% from the field and 40% from deep.

He still has gas left in the tank and would be a great pickup for the Warriors.
