Decline Andre Iguodala

Forever a fan favorite, the 2015 Finals MVP rejoined the Golden State Warriors on a one-year, $2 million dollar deal this season after being traded in 2019. Will Andre Iguodala suit up for another championship run?

Probably not.

Benefits

Let’s face it, father time has caught up to Iguodala. At 38 years of age, he doesn’t have much on-court production to offer.

Iggy struggled to stay on the floor for much of the season with constant injuries. When he was on the floor, it was clear that Iguodala’s athleticism and impact had greatly diminished since the last time he played for Golden State.

The Warriors would benefit from dropping Iggy or allowing him to retire rather than taking up a roster spot next year.

Concerns

Still, the veteran experience, leadership and chemistry Iggy has with the current core is not something the Warriors will be able to quickly replace.

Who knows, perhaps an entire summer of resting his body could help Iguodala return with more fire under his belt next season. At the least, he could be an impactful mentor for the young members of this franchise. Losing Iggy means losing his locker room presence.
