Golden State Warriors: 5 free agents who can shake NBA balance

James Harden should stay in Philly
Opting in to the final year of his deal seems like a smart decision for James Harden, who is set to make $47 million on a title-contending team in Philly despite posting two of the worst seasons of his career recently.
Even so, it feels like Harden could do just about anything this summer.
Recent reports hint at Harden not returning to Philadelphia for one more year. Remember, he was traded from Brooklyn at the deadline and spent just 21 games with the 76ers before the playoffs began — where he averaged 18.6 points per game, his fewest postseason average since 2012.
What would happen if Harden leaves? His offensive versatility and playmaking make him the type of guard that can elevate any team to playoff contention.
More worrying, however, is what happens if Harden stays and has a resurgence?
To his credit, the last few seasons have been plagued by instability and injury concerns. A full season in a less-toxic environment could help Harden get his feet back under him. All the while, he’d be playing next to an MVP candidate in Joel Embiid.
Harden could shake the league by changing teams — but staying in Philly and forming a superstar duo would be even more altering.
