Golden State Warriors: 5 free agents who can shake NBA balance

Deandre Ayton’s shaky relationship with Phoenix
The rocky relationship between Deandre Ayton and the Phoenix Suns has been a head-scratcher for many of us.
Ayton has grown into his own as a rim protector and quality paint presence on offense. He’s a good screen setter and fills his role as a seven-footer to near perfection.
So why doesn’t Phoneix seem interested in retaining him?
We’ll skip the drama — but the reality is that Ayton could be on his way out of Phoenix.
What does this mean for the NBA?
Well, the Suns already appear to be teetering on the deep end despite back-to-back prolific seasons and a trip to the 2021 NBA Finals.
Losing Ayton would be another devasting blow to the Suns’ championship window. Ayton averaged 17.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game.
It’s unclear where Ayton would land and his status as a restricted free agent blurs the lines. But, there is no question his decision could bolster another contender and doom the Suns all at the same time.
