Warriors should be able to re-sign Looney because of: Culture

While Looney’s loyalty and unselfishness runs deep, the Warriors have created a culture in which the center should want to stay in.

It’s all about knowing what to expect, and in a new organization, Looney might not have the same value. He’s great at setting screens, creating extra opportunities on the glass and defending guards, the last of which is an undervalued skill.

However, what’s being asked of him currently may change if he were to go to Sacramento or Boston. At the end of the day, Looney’s going to find his best value in Golden State because of how their offense has been molded and his familiarity with the team.

If Golden State’s culture was similar to that of the Lakers, where every player seems expected to produce big-time numbers, he wouldn’t have the same value, and considering Looney’s 26 years old, he’ll have a contract after this one.

For the sake of his long-term value, the culture that Golden State has molded serves Looney the best.
