5. Dennis Schroder

There was a time when every team thought Dennis Schroder could lend a helping hand. The Los Angeles Lakers even offered him an $84 million dollar deal just a few years ago.

What happened?

Pro

Schroder bet on himself. A respectable trait but one that backfired.

Prior to his collapse in the 2021 NBA Playoffs and subsequent stinkers in Boston and Houston, Schroder was a lightning-quick guard who could score and create plays with ease.

Another trait was his defense. Schroder is an in-your-face defender who can rack up steals and frustrate opponents. All attributes that make him a prime candidate to become a Warriors’ backup.

Cons

The issue? Schroder has not been that guy for roughly two years.

He never quite fit in Boston. His time in Houston was forgettable. All the while, his individual numbers have mostly declined. There are questions as to whether or not Schroder can truly be a rotational player on a winning team.
