Free agency is cooling down but the summer is only just heating up. The Golden State Warriors can still make a splash by targetting T.J. Warren.

We already know the Warriors are spending an unfathomable amount of money on contracts this season. They have the highest payroll in the NBA and it has already cost them the likes of Gary Payton II and Otto Porter Jr. this offseason.

But you have to pay the cost to be the boss.

Warren is a worthy gamble to take as the Dubs look to round out their roster this summer.

The Golden State Warriors should take a chance on T.J. Warren, a versatile forward who can score from all areas on the floor.

With Porter leaving the franchise, Golden State will need a forward who can fill his role.

This is what makes Warren an interesting prospect.

The 28-year-old averaged 19.8 points on 54/40/82 shooting splits in his last healthy season. It has been two years since then but at his age, Warren can certainly make a full recovery.

What injuries has he suffered? Mostly left foot injuries which have held him sidelined for all but four games since the 2020 bubble. Though, it appears he has made progress in returning to full strength.

Most importantly, Warren never relied on athleticism for his scoring. He’s a shooter who can create off the dribble using his height and smooth handle. There is no explosiveness necessary for Warren to fill in a role with the Warriors.

In many ways, Warren can play almost identical to Porter. Assuming health is finally back on his side, there is no reason the Warriors should not consider bringing in Warren as a replacement.

Warren is an unrestricted free agent and there have not been many rumors as to where he will end up. Hopefully, the Dubs are doing their work in silence to determine if Warren is a worthy gamble or not.
