Warriors should sign Serge Ibaka

Serge Ibaka would be a great addition for Golden State, having spent last season with the Clippers and Bucks. Ibaka was an NBA Champion with the Raptors, playing an impactful role with the 2019 Raptors team that dethroned Golden State.

He’s played with several notable stars including Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant. Ibaka has yet to play on the veteran’s minimum in his career, but the 32-year-old should be heading that way soon.

Ibaka led the league in blocks per game twice in his first four seasons in the league, and as he aged, having had his rookie season in 2008, he become a greater threat offensively, shooting 36% from deep throughout his 13-year career.

That tandem of shot-blocking and shooting is what should make Ibaka a viable target for most teams looking to compete.

He would fill the team’s stretch-four role almost perfectly and should get most of the minutes at the backup four with spotty minutes as the five in small-ball lineups. Signing Ibaka would be a win-win scenario for Golden State, but he’d most likely have to take a pay cut to join the Dubs.
