Warriors should sign Gorgui Dieng

Gorgui Dieng is surprisingly 32 years old as well, although his rookie season was in 2013. Dieng wouldn’t provide the same defensive tenacity as Ibaka, but he still would be able to help space the court.

Dieng would be a low-cost big man for the Warriors, and as with Porter Jr. and Payton, the former Louisville standout may be able to use the Dubs to revive his career and earn a larger contract elsewhere next offseason.

Dieng is similar to Ibaka in the sense that, as he matured in the NBA, he developed a three-point shot. Dieng is shooting 36.7% from deep in his career. He’s not a volume three-point shooter though, averaging just .8 attempts per game.

Per 36 minutes, Dieng has averaged over 4 triples the last three seasons, so when he’s on the court, he’s shooting from deep often. Dieng was last with the Hawks and played just 8.4 minutes per game.

While Ibaka would be preferred, Dieng would be a quality, cheap floor-spacing option.
