The return won’t be worth the additional cost

Trading Jonathan Kuminga would cost the Golden State Warriors more than they would likely get back.

I’m not even talking about losing Kuminga and all of the potential that comes with him. That discussion comes later.

No, I’m talking about whoever the Dubs would need to package alongside Kuminga to snag another max contract player.

There is no scenario in which the Warriors trade Kuminga for a player making rookie money. In order to get a superstar player, Golden State would need to pair Kuminga with Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green or Klay Thompson.

A move of this caliber is unprecedented for a team that just won the championship. Do you really think the Dubs would confidently trade away one of the players most responsible for their recent title?

Let alone the optics of being a franchise that would trade one of their most loyal stars so quickly after winning the chip.
