Jonathan Kuminga has too much potential

The Golden State Warriors have done a great job of building through the NBA Draft, as always. The original core is homegrown and the potential dynasty of the future could be too.

At the core, it is Jonathan Kuminga.

There is a combination of agility, gracefulness, finesse, athleticism and brute strength that is rare in the NBA. Kuminga flashed all of these in his rookie season, dancing around defenders before detonating on the rim with ferocity.

It’s not every day a teenager has this level of speed and strength to match a soft touch around the rim. With development, Kuminga will be a nearly unstoppable paint presence and has the potential to expand his range.

On the defensive end, the sky is the limit. All of that nimbleness can make him a versatile defender. Comparisons to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are not far-fetched when looking at Kuminga’s raw physical tools.

The Warriors could have a blossoming superstar on their hands and it would be foolish to punt on this opportunity to extend their dynasty into the next decade.
