Rumors are slowing down and it is feeling increasingly likely the Golden State Warriors will stay out of any Kevin Durant trade proposals while Durant himself will remain in Brooklyn.

It makes the most sense for everyone involved. The Golden State Warriors will steer clear of trades and Kevin Durant will stay in Brooklyn.

For a minute, it felt the oddly timed reunion between Durant and Golden State was going to become a real thing. The Dubs reportedly had interest and they have had the assets to make a blockbuster trade for years.

Then, reality set in.

The Warriors are already champions again. With a roster full of promising young prospects and current superstars, there is no need to do anything rash.

For the Nets, giving up Durant, who still has four years on his contract, would be unwise.

Brooklyn is staring down the barrel of a total rebuild only two years after adding both Durant and Kyrie Irving. Yet, with both of them stuck in long-term deals… why exactly would the Nets pull the trigger?

Sure, Kyrie seems like the type to sit out an entire season in protest. But Durant? Unlikely. The dude just loves basketball too much.

With Ben Simmons on the roster and a decent collection of role players, it is worth running it back for Brooklyn.

Even from KD’s perspective, running it back with Irving, Simmons, Seth Curry, Patty Mills, Joe Harris and the others seems like a better deal than gutting the roster of whoever he would be traded to.

Brooklyn could be a title contender next season if Simmons fills the gap as a versatile, defensive playmaker.

Focusing back on Golden State, there is not much incentive behind blowing this roster up for Durant. Perhaps he can secure another championship but at the cost of a potential future dynasty? I don’t think so.
