Golden State Warriors’ Porter Jr. replacement: Markieff Morris

One name to consider who could act as a stretch-four veteran and an enforcer is Miami Heat forward Markieff Morris.

Being injured by an aggressive Nikola Jokic’s blindside shove last season, Morris played in just 17 games. He’s not typically been an injury-prone player, so this injury should be in the rearview mirror.

As for his play, he averages .8 threes made per game and shoots 34% from deep in his career. Both of those are also around what he was at in those 17 games.

However, the four seasons prior, Morris topped a triple per game, so there is hope that his three-point shooting would improve while with Golden State. He would be a cheap, veteran’s minimum addition.

Morris stands 6-foot-9, so he would offer some size as well. He would also bring consistency as he’s shot over 30% from deep in all 11 of his NBA seasons. He may not be a superstar, blockbuster signing, but he could be a player that would pay dividends in the Dubs rotation.
