Golden State Warriors’ Porter Jr. replacement: Blake Griffin
A former No. 1 overall pick, the Oklahoma product Blake Griffin spent last season with the Brooklyn Nets.
Griffin came out of college and missed his first season in the league, immediately turning into a superstar when healthy. Originally, Griffin was an extreme athlete who thrived in transition. Since he’s aged, Griffin has added a three-point shot to his game.
Griffin didn’t average over a three per game until his ninth season in the league. Since, he’s made that a focal part of his game. In his first full season with Detroit, Griffin averaged 2.5 triples per game.
Last season, with the Kevin Durant-led Nets, he averaged 6.4 points per game and made 0.7 triples. Griffin is a career 33% three-point shooter. He did average 1.4 threes per 36 minutes though.
Griffin should be primed to be on a veteran’s minimum, so he would be the perfect target for Golden State. This seems like a win-win scenario for both sides.
