Gorgui Dieng is a capable backup big

There is always a risk to run when you have a young player acting as a core piece to a team with championship aspirations. For the Golden State Warriors, James Wiseman could develop into a cornerstone… but he might not be ready this season.

On top of injury concerns, there is an overall lack of experience that could restrict Wiseman’s ability to be a consistent contributor for Golden State.

This makes Gorgui Dieng a solid player to target.

He is a veteran big who averaged 3.5 points and 2.8 rebounds while shooting 42.6% from the 3-point line, offering a bit of floor spacing for the Dubs’ frontcourt.

Dieng would not be a high-usage player but he could pad the Warriors’ depth by giving Kevon Looney a reliable backup to allow him some time to rest throughout the year.
