Warriors must address: The backup five
Bjelica and Porter Jr. both were involved in the team’s regular season frontcourt rotation.
Bjelica was vital when Kevon Looney got in foul trouble, and although James Wiseman is on the return, both Looney and Wiseman have struggled with injuries in the past. Looney played all 82 games this past season and played 81 games combined throughout the two seasons prior.
His availability has been in question before, and with Wiseman missing all of last season, having a third-string big man could come in more handy than expected.
Serge Ibaka would’ve been a perfect addition, but he re-signed in Milwaukee. Baynes again is a name to keep an eye on, and LaMarcus Aldridge could also be a player they consider. Dwight Howard and Ed Davis are both players the Warriors may want to sign as well.
At the end of the day, if Looney goes down, having a veteran center ready to take his spot is something the Dubs may consider paramount. It should be of utmost importance for the Warriors to figure out what their frontcourt, mainly behind their starters, looks like.
