Warriors must address: Who is behind Stephen Curry?

In 2020, the Warriors tried to address their backup point guard need with Brad Wanamaker.

This past season, they never truly brought in that player to facilitate the second unit. Jordan Poole could be that player, and if they want him to be the playmaker on the bench, then that’s a perfectly fine solution to this need.

Otherwise, having a veteran guard behind Curry is a move that makes sense, and given they have the space on their roster for it, it’s a move to keep an eye on.

Austin Rivers, Rajon Rondo, and Dennis Schröder all make sense for Golden State with Rivers and Rondo as players that should be frontrunners as they have a veteran presence and defensive tenacity that should make them quintessential backup point guards.

After his most recent showing in the Las Vegas Summer League, Mac McClung could be a possible option as well. All would be solid additions for the Warriors, so it would make sense to have one behind Curry, if that need is something the Warriors value filling.
