Golden State Warriors top free agent target: Carmelo Anthony

Over the last several years, Carmelo Anthony has jumped around the league. From Houston to Oklahoma City to Los Angeles and even a stop in Portland mixed in there, Anthony has traveled often as he’s aged.

Anthony, as it looked like his time in the NBA was fading, rejuvenated his career with the Trail Blazers. Now, Anthony should be able to get a look from a team like Golden State, especially considering they could use his stretch-four talents.

A ten-time All-Star forward, Anthony has averaged double figures in each of his 19 seasons in the league.

He averaged 13.3 points per game this past season, shooting 44.1% from the field. The concern for Anthony is his play on the defensive end, and there’s not a ton of hope that he can be a strong contributor in the playoffs like Porter Jr. was.

As a mentor and as a veteran leader, along with obviously his play on the court and ability to score in isolation, Anthony makes sense as a target for Golden State. He’s shown enough over the past few seasons to earn a look from the Dubs.
