Golden State Warriors top free agent target: Montrezl Harrell

Another name in NBA.com’s top seven remaining free agents is former Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell.

The Louisville product last played with the Hornets, and given their cap situation, it seems unlikely he returns to the Queen City. Harrell has played with four teams over the last three seasons, splitting time this past season with the Wizards and Hornets.

Harrell’s relentless work on the boards is a huge reason for his success. He averaged just 6.1 points per game but 2.1 of those came on the offensive glass. He also shot over 64% from the field, so his efficiency was a huge reason for his continued success.

Harrell isn’t a franchise player though, and he may not see that same type of money. That’s why a situation like Golden State could be a good place for him. Now, he wouldn’t get the same type of salary, much like the DeMarcus Cousins situation from a few seasons ago.

However, he obviously has more of a market than Cousins did then. Nonetheless, the Warriors would welcome a player with his energy and tenacity. Harrell would make a great fit in the Bay Area, but the price tag will likely make this far from likely.
