Warriors player apart of Kevin Durant trade: Andrew Wiggins

No one thought Andrew Wiggins could reach the level that he did last season for the Golden State Warriors. The former No. 1 overall pick earned an appearance in the All-Star Game and was actually a starter for the Western Conference.

Wiggins thrived on both ends of the court.

In the last year of a max-value contract, Wiggins will be coming off the books and becoming a free agent at the end of the season. That could be seen as a positive or negative as Brooklyn could free up cap space by having Wiggins included.

The 27-year-old forward averaged 17.2 points per game and shot 47% from the field to go along with a career-high 39.3% from deep. The Warriors’ system certainly helped him excel, but Wiggins’ creation and shot-making were clear in the Finals, where he also helped lock up Jayson Tatum.

If a trade is on the horizon, while Dub Nation may have grown to love Wiggins, his contract makes him a player that will easily have to be included.
