Warriors player apart of Kevin Durant trade: Jordan Poole

The Nets want youth, an All-Star caliber player, and picks.

You can’t fault them for the request, and while it may be a long shot that a team gives up all that to adequately suffice their needs, if the Warriors do, Jordan Poole may be double-dipping in both youth and an All-Star-level player.

He was that good last season, especially down the stretch.

While impossible to maintain, Poole has increased his scoring by about 60% each season, and his efficiency has turned a corner as well. A former first-round pick from Michigan, Poole averaged 8.8 points per game as a rookie then 12.0 and most recently 18.5.

He’s improved his efficiency all three seasons as well, shooting 45% from the field and 36% from deep this past season. He also averaged 17 points per game during the Dubs 22-game postseason run. But, can Poole lead a team?

He proved he could with Curry out the last several weeks. Poole took over, averaging 26 points per game and shooting 38% from deep. While he may still have a good bit to go to be an All-Star, he’s certainly on his way.

Poole is under contract for one more season, and if the Warriors are going to struggle to find the cap space to pay him, involving him in this trade could be a smart move, especially given it would most certainly be required by the Nets.
