Draymond Green is making one thing clear on social media. He doesn’t care who would win a hypothetical matchup between his 2017 Golden State Warriors and the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers.

Yes, it’s that point of the summer already.

When faced with the hypothetical question of who would win, the 2017 Golden State Warriors or the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers — Draymond Green doesn’t care.

Replying to a Speak For Yourself segment on who would win the battle between two California dynasties — Green listed a few reasons as to why this is a pointless conversation — and then asked one question, who cares?

Draymond was quick to point out all of the factors that make comparing two teams from different generations impossible.

Points per game and 3-point percentage as obvious variations between the style of basketball being played in 2001 compared to 2017.

It is no secret the game has changed. Green and the Warriors are perhaps the biggest reason for this change.

While on one hand, the 2017 iteration of Golden State is packed with so much offensive firepower, it is hard to see any team matching their shooting and scoring output.

Then again, is any mortal man capable of containing Shaquille O’Neal? They couldn’t do it in 2001 and if you could somehow send 28-year-old Shaq into a time-traveling portal, I doubt anyone could do it now, either.

This doesn’t even include all the nuances that come with both teams’ depth pieces. Kobe Bryant, Derrick Fisher, Horace Grant, etc. are all names that would provide unique challenges to Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.

Now, if you ask me, I think the 2017 Warriors are simply too loaded to lose a seven-game series. It just wouldn’t happen.

Ass Draymond Green said so eloquently, who cares? We will never know the true answer. It’s best to just appreciate both championship runs for what they are.
