Golden State Warriors player best-suited for breakout: James Wiseman

Former No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman will undoubtedly have some difficulties getting into NBA form, but he played well in his first action in over a year. Wiseman missed the entire 2021-2022 season with a knee injury.

Wiseman took the court at the 2K23 Las Vegas Summer League.

He scored 10.5 points per game, shooting 48.5% from the field. He also knocked down two threes during his four games as well. Wiseman averaged 2 blocks and 4.5 fouls per game, both notable figures for his role on the roster this upcoming season.

Wiseman is expected to backup Kevon Looney and should serve as more of a shot-blocking center. He’ll have every opportunity to thrive as he should see 20-plus minutes per game. Wiseman averaged 11.5 points per game on 52% shooting as a rookie.

Having bulked up, Wiseman should be expected to have more control in the paint and should be a threat in the pick-and-roll. If he can find his role and play it well, Wiseman could have an extremely successful season.
