Golden State Warriors could swing for Ben Simmons

The Ben Simmons situation is up there with the strangest dilemmas the league has ever seen.

He had a complete meltdown in the 2021 NBA Playoffs before forfeiting millions of dollars in protest as he demanded a trade from Philadelphia.

Once in Brooklyn, he teetered between making his debut for months until he was finally ruled out in the playoffs with an ongoing back injury.

And now? His eradicate star teammates are both dealing with a whirlwind of trade rumors.

For Simmons, a trade to a more stable environment could work wonders for his career. Meanwhile, the Nets would also gain a sense of stability by moving past this chaotic chapter and adding some valuable assets from Golden State.

Let’s say the Dubs choose to extend Jordan Poole for max money — and flip Andrew Wiggins, plus picks (and likely a member or two of the young core) for Ben Simmons later this season.

Would this be a good move? Simmons certainly fills all of Wiggins’ roles on defense and adds a playmaking dynamic in place of Wiggins’ 3-point shooting.

It’s hard to tell just how valid this swap would be but it’s something to keep an eye on moving forward.
