Donovan Mitchell would give Golden State Warriors more firepower
The Utah Jazz blew up the tumultuous relationship between their two stars, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.
But that might not be enough to satisfy Mitchell, he still wants out, and if Utah chooses to oblige his demands, the Warriors could swoop in for a trade.
What does Mitchell bring to the Warriors? A high-powered shot-creating slasher who can score at will and carry the future of the franchise.
The three-time All-Star averaged 25.9 points and 5.3 assists last season.
Who does Golden State give up? It’s a foregone conclusion that some of the young core would be included in a deal, as well as a flurry of NBA Draft picks.
But who is the big financial piece that’s added to match the salary? Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green are the only players who could make it work.
Wiggins is the easiest one to dump, considering his upcoming free agency and the fact that Draymond and Klay have a closer tie to the franchise. Regardless, losing any of these players would be a crucial blow to the Warriors.
Mitchell would serve as a very interesting member of the Splash Brothers but due to his lack of height and defensive inefficiencies, the Warriors probably avoid this one. Though, it would cause chaos.
