Why Wiggins is odd man out for Warriors: Tenure isn’t there

The Warriors are going to be dealing with many extensions at one time. There’s no denying if there were no salary cap that Wiggins would remain a Warrior. However, the Dubs should have bigger priorities, and that comes in the form of Green.

Green is up for extension, and even if he gets just under a max, combining that, Thompson and Poole’s potential extensions would still be too much to get Wiggins what the market values the first-time All-Star forward at.

The note that Wiggins doesn’t fit the timeline also impacts this. He shouldn’t be valued as a player that’s yet to hit his ceiling, and at the same time, he certainly wouldn’t have the same pull as Green or Thompson.

Wiggins played well this past season, but without the Warriors, he wasn’t the star he blossomed into with Golden State. While the same could likely be said of Green, the All-Star forward has aided four championship runs, so his value and pull in the organization is there.

If it comes down to Green or Wiggins, the tenure that the former has put in with the Dubs would be a major factor. The relationships he has are there as opposed to Wiggins.
