Team to eye for Warriors trade: Houston Rockets
Another team to keep in mind when the near calendar year turns into a firesale of players by any non-competing organization is Houston.
The Rockets commenced their sale early by trading center Christian Wood. Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green are the star guards in their backcourt, and Jabari Smith Jr. is the player they hope brings it all together.
However, there are a few veterans on the roster that may not finish the season there.
David Nwaba, Eric Gordon, Sterling Brown and Trey Burke are the names to keep an eye on. While Gordon is the big-name scorer, Nwaba, who is a top-tier defender, and Burke, who has been a threat scoring off the second unit for playoff-contending teams, could be the more likely players.
Given those two make under $5 million and Gordon is nearing $20 million, it would actually make sense to wait for a buyout as opposed to a trade.
Nonetheless, the Rockets should in another position this coming season where getting something (or at least getting their young players minutes) for veterans is a top priority. Expect them to auction their players older than 26 off as well.
