The Golden State Warriors are one of those teams that everyone in the NBA should be watching when it comes to the 2022-23 trade deadline or even the 2023 offseason.

Why? The Warriors are primed to make a blockbuster move.

There are few financial storms brewing larger or posing more of a threat to shake the balance of the league than the one forming in Golden State.

With an already sky-high paystub that is going to get even harder to check in the coming years, the Warriors’ front office is in for some tough decisions when Draymond Green, Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins and eventually, Klay Thompson come knocking on the door for contract extensions.

Is it possible the Dubs brunt the burden of paying all of these star players for the sake of winning basketball games? Certainly.

Is it also worth mentioning that the Warriors could wield one hell of a punch by packaging some of their assets for a superstar?

The Golden State Warriors are in a position to make a future blockbuster trade at the deadline or in the following offseason.

If you’re going to spend boatloads of money anyways, why not make sure it’s worth it? Trading an aging Green or Thompson for a current star would give the Warriors more bang for their buck.

Rather, they could flip Poole or Wiggins to restructure the supporting cast around Green, Thompson and Stephen Curry.

There are so many options and the Dubs have more than enough assets to make just about any play they want.

As of now, I’d bet my money on the Warriors paying the price of keeping the core together. It’s a proven squad that has already notched a title.

But that doesn’t change the fact that the Dubs are just as primed for a trade as anyone else in the league. With star players demanding to be moved more than ever before — expect Golden State to frequently be mentioned as a landing destination.
