The Golden State Warriors haven’t necessarily improved this offseason, but at the same time, every key piece they’ve lost, they have replaced adequately. The two names that immediately come to mind are Otto Porter Jr. and Gary Payton II.

Both players were instrumental in the Warriors’ playoff rotation with Porter Jr. starting a few games in the Finals. Replacing a Finals-starting player is not easy, and Golden State is attempting to do that with veteran JaMychal Green.

The Golden State Warriors signed JaMychal Green to replace Otto Porter Jr., and he seems excited to play along Draymond Green, likely as a small-ball center.

Green spent last season with Denver Nuggets. One nice part about Green’s experiences to this point in his career is he doesn’t lack trips to the postseason, having been in the playoffs in seven of his eight seasons, the last three being with Denver.

On top of that, Green has the potential to be as good or better of a rebounder than Porter Jr., and he’s excited to get that going. NBC Sports caught up with Green and talked with him about his expectations.

Green started off by saying that he’s going to play hard and continued by noting that he plans to “help Draymond out with dirty work.” Green is going to have his chances to get that dirty work in as he’s expected to fill that role of a small-ball center.

Green stands 6-foot-8, so when the team goes to a smaller lineup, he’ll be the center. Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins will likely be the others in the frontcourt. Green has averaged 5.7 rebounds per game for this career and 9.3 per 36 minutes.

Another key part of his game will be his three-point shooting. He’s shooting 36.6% from deep in his career and 47.2% from the field. His efficiency and ability to stretch the floor will both help him solidify this role in the rotation.

The sky will be the limit for Green in Golden State as he could see Porter Jr.-lite minutes or edge his way out of the rotation in favor of Jonathan Kuminga. Green has the potential to be one of the offseason’s most impactful signings.

With his skill set and experience, I’d expect a healthy dose of Green this upcoming season.
