While the Golden State Warriors discuss Jordan Poole’s future with the franchise, they must consider Moses Moody’s potential to surpass him as the sixth man.

First things first, succeeding Poole is no easy feat. Poole has turned into a genuinely elite scorer with superb ball handling and shot-creating abilities.

Moses Moody could one day steal the spotlight from Jordan Poole as the Golden State Warriors floor general in the second unit.

Last season, Poole averaged 18.5 points on 36.4% 3-point shooting, an impressive mark for a high-volume, off-dribble shooter.

It took years for JP to get here. Meanwhile, Moody is but a sophomore.

In his rookie year, Moody averaged 4.4 points in just 11.7 minutes per game.

The two guards share some qualities. Both have promising futures as 3-point shooters with Poole turning into a legit off-ball threat and Moody flashing the same potential.

From here, the differences start to stack up.

Poole is much more offensive-oriented whereas Moody has shown the skills to dominate both ends of the floor. He’s a lanky defender with a high IQ and motor.

This sets Moody apart from Poole, who has improved but remains a below-average defender.

Moving forward, Moody has a chance to be a legit two-way guard. His decision-making could help him be a more consistent and safe option for the Warriors in the second unit.

In contrast, Poole is a streaky shooter and has been picked on in the playoffs defensively.

Now, the best-case scenario is having both Poole and Moody share the backcourt. They compliment each other well and could become the future of the franchise alongside Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman.

However, with Poole’s contract extension coming up, the Warriors should keep a close eye on Moody. If all signs point toward Moody eventually surpassing Poole, it could impact the amount of money they are willing to spend on JP.
