With their first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors selected Milwaukee’s Patrick Baldwin Jr. Many were immediately skeptical of the pick, but it’s easy to see why he piqued the Warriors’ interest.

For starters, it’s unlikely you get a superstar in the late first, but Baldwin Jr. is a wildcard. That could be something Golden State wanted, especially with a roster that’s already among the most loaded in the NBA.

The Golden State Warriors drafted Patrick Baldwin Jr. with their 2022 first-round pick, and he’s primed for more success than these other top-30 selections.

Baldwin Jr. was the 5th-overall player in his high school class, and at 6-foot-9, he offers great size for a guard. However, injury kept him sidelined and likely could’ve let him slip into the second round, but Golden State sees the potential that most D1 colleges did as well.

In 11 games, Baldwin Jr. averaged 12.1 points per game and shot 34% from the field. His efficiency and health are going to be a concern moving forward, but Baldwin Jr. still has the potential to eventually play a prominent role for the Dubs.

Baldwin Jr. is primed to have a strong NBA career, and with that in mind, he should be in a better position to have success than many of his fellow first-round picks. Let’s dive into three other first-rounders he should have a better career than.
