First-round pick Baldwin Jr. will be better than: TyTy Washington Jr.

Let’s start with a player drafted after Baldwin Jr.

The Rockets took TyTy Washington Jr. with the 29th pick in the NBA Draft. He has a similar style of play as Tyrese Maxey, another former Kentucky Wildcats standout currently with the Philadelphia 76ers. Washington Jr. thrived with the Cats, averaging 12.5 minutes per game.

At 6-foot-3, his size may be an issue and Washington Jr. is going to show that his efficiency can translate to the league’s highest level. Maxey isn’t a high-value three-point shooter, and he also struggled against Kentucky’s top-tier opponents like Kansas and Duke.

Washington Jr. is going to get pushed around at the league’s highest level and may not have that same playmaking as Maxey. Baldwin Jr. has the size and should be able to mix that with his playmaking to create a more formidable skill set.

The No. 29 pick in the NBA Draft, Washington has potential and was an elite prospect coming out of high school. He’ll have to prove he should’ve been a lottery pick before many believe that he’s among the best in this draft.
