Donovan Mitchell: C-

Trading for Donovan Mitchell would feel a lot like when the Golden State Warriors traded for D’Angelo Russell.

It would be a move out of desperation, in an attempt to avoid losing one of their key free agents for nothing.

And while Mitchell is a significant upgrade from the Warriors’ consolation prize of D-Lo, he comes with all of the same flaws.

What role would Mitchell play alongside the Splash Brothers? His skill set is redundant — unless Jordan Poole is the one being traded. But, would a max-caliber player like Mitchell even accept a bench role?

Mitchell has been linked to the Dubs in rumors but I can’t imagine this gains traction.

Perhaps if Klay Thompson’s production falls off a cliff, but even then, packaging enough assets to acquire an undersized, high-scoring guard doesn’t seem like the type of move the Warriors would make.
