Donovan Mitchell to New York Knicks

In what feels like the most plausible deal on this list, Donovan Mitchell has been linked to the New York Knicks for years. According to Shams Charania, trade talks between the Utah Jazz and Knicks have once again sparked.

Mitchell averaged 25.9 points and 5.3 assists last season as he reached his third All-Star game at only 25 years of age. He’s helped make Utah one of the best regular season teams in the NBA though he hasn’t tasted much playoff success.

The Golden State Warriors should not feel too threatened by the Jazz or Knicks, in this scenario. With Rudy Gobert gone, the Jazz will not be in the title race. Meanwhile, New York will need much more than an undersized, high-powered offensive guard to lead them back to the top.

Still, Mitchell landing in this market offers a chance to make the Knicks an appealing landing spot for stars in the future. Thinking long-term, Mitchell could be the first of many to join the Knicks and potentially create a super team.
