Warriors player most likely traded: James Wiseman

James Wiseman is going into this season as the team’s backup center.

It would be understandable for the Warriors to want to add some veteran talent in the frontcourt, especially at center where there’s just Kevon Looney and Wiseman. Wiseman missed all of last season and didn’t show much of that superstar upside in the Las Vegas Summer League.

Wiseman could be a good play and did make a few triples during his stint in Vegas. However, the flashes of what was a top-two pick just haven’t been there. In the B/R suggested trade, the Dubs deal Wiseman and then bring in Mason Plumlee, among many other moving pieces.

Wiseman has struggled with injuries, fouling and shooting. While he should be a dominant rim-rolling big and also should be solid on the boards, there may not be enough potential to keep the hope alive.

If the Warriors want a more veteran presence, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them trade the 21-year-old center. Considering Looney’s injury history as well, it shouldn’t be out of the question that they’d prefer a better, more stable fit behind him.
