How Draymond Green can improve for Warriors: Become deep threat

Draymond Green was once a relatively decent three-point shooter. Then, when Kevin Durant joined the team, Green shooting even an open three was no longer the best option for Golden State. Green’s shooting declined for five seasons.

That trend did change this past season, but his efficiency, especially from deep, really isn’t what Golden State should be wanting.

From his second season to his sixth season in the NBA, Green hit over 30% of his attempts from deep, and he’s been under that for four straight years now. Green hit 29.6% of his attempts from deep.

The Warriors were 13-1 when Green hit a three and 2-0 when he hit multiple. Green being able to knock down open threes helps free up the floor and creates more opportunities for everyone around him.

He needs to work on his three-point shooting and be able to space the court this upcoming season. Considering he’s also looking for a massive extension, Green’s play, specifically his ability to shoot from deep, could aid his next contract as well.
